The Built Environment team of Hays Executive was formed 13 years ago as a division of what is now Hays Construction and Property, formerly Hays Montrose; it is now one of the leading search practices within the sector.

The team typically recruits at middle / senior management and board level, within the private and public sector right across the Built Environment, with individual consultants specialising in many of the sub sectors that exist.

Our consultants possess detailed knowledge of the issues specifically relating to these sectors both technically and from a recruitment perspective, which adds real value to our client's businesses. We regularly track the leading players, which give us a significant edge over other recruiters, as well as working hard at maintaining our relationship with clients to ensure we have a full appreciation of their culture to enable us to get the "right fit" for their business.

The sector has never been so buoyant and with the Olympics providing impetus in the south and the other major cities in the UK active in development and regeneration, the skill shortages are really starting to have an effect.

Many of the leading businesses are currently experiencing recruitment problems at all levels and this causes a very difficult balance between supply and demand. We work very closely with professional institutions including CIOB, CIBSE, RIBA, FMA and our consultants play leading roles in other organisations such as the Forum for the Built Environment, Women in Property and Women in Construction.

Our specialist knowledge covers the whole of the UK from our three main offices with links to the network of 75 other Hays offices. We are also active globally, linking in with our 22 international offices and searching for executives all over the world for both UK and International clients.

Our niche is the sourcing of candidates at senior management and board level via search, networking, recommendation and advertising. We also provide an interim management service in addition to our permanent placements, where immediate technical expertise is required on key projects.
