National Housing Federation

Housing associations across the country work to provide affordable homes to meet the social housing needs of the population.

The mission of the National Housing Federation (NHF) is to support and promote the work that housing associations do and campaign for better housing and neighbourhoods.

At present, the NHF represents 1,400 independent, not-for-profit housing associations in England who provide two million homes for five million people.

One of the core values of the NHF is equality and it places great importance on promoting diversity and combating discrimination and inequality.

This is clearly demonstrated by the organisation’s considerable lobbying efforts- nationally and regionally - as well as numerous high profile campaigns and projects.

The NHF has also responded to a growing need from housing associations for guidance on policies, functions, services and activities.

By pioneering the Equality and Diversity framework, the NHF has produced a comprehensive guide for review and action that covers the whole range of equality areas, helping to ensure that the needs of a diverse population are met.
